Meet Kris

Hello my loves!

I'm Kris, an early childhood teacher and professional photographer turned stay at home mommy to 4 pretty amazing kids.

My passion for educating young minds along with my Early Childhood Development degree, has yielded  8+ years in a preschool classroom and has also led to valuable insight of children's (including those with special needs) behavior, growth, and development.

As an artist I've worked with many families to create beautiful heartfelt images. I am resting a bit from portrait clients, and focusing at the moment on still life, food, lifestyle and product images for stock corporations...including one of the largest stock agencies in the world, Getty Images. I'm honored to say my work has been licensed by many renowned corporations such as Nickelodeon, Rosetta Stone, Huffington Post and Microsoft Publishing.

As a mom of 7 children ranging in age from 6-20, I've had my share of sleepless nights, somehow managed to survive every stage of parenting from being pooped and peed on to prom night, graduation and the bittersweet transition to adulthood. Trust me it hasn't been easy but let's just say I embrace my platinum hairs strands (I've earned them!) and consider them shimmering badges of mommy glitter.

Let's see in a nutshell..I'm an artist to the core, have had a life long addiction to pastries, adore all things vintage, and I'm pretty convinced I'm a mermaid with a drinking problem (no worries...wine, mostly).

Oh and how can I forget..I've been sipping tea waaaaay before Kermit (the frog) thought it was cool!

Check this out. 50 Random Facts

I'm married to an amazing woman, who is the love of my life. She's a retired Navy sailor, holds a Master's Degree in Business Management, and enjoys home improvement projects. Together we share 7 happy, healthy, creative kids. That number includes a set of multiples and a sweet boy with ASD (Autism Spectrum Disorder).

My spouse and I resided in Hampton, Virginia (my home town) together for nearly 8 years, but recently took the plunge and moved to middle Tennessee to be closer to her family's neck of the woods.  And I don't use that phrase lightly (We are about as deep in the country as you can get). It's been an interesting experience (Read about the day I left VA here) but have come a long way and the kids and I have adjusted fairly well.

This blog serves as my soul space, the place where I will share DIY ideas, family friendly recipes, decorating and photography tips and of course everyday real life experiences...which could lend to just about anything!

Let's stay connected!
